Teaching Assistant – 1:1 Support for a Profoundly Deaf Pupil

Location: Worcester
Start Date: Immediate
Contract: Full-time, Long-term

Smile Education are proud to be working in partnership with one of our valued primary schools in Worcester to recruit a dedicated Teaching Assistant for an immediate start.

We are seeking an experienced and compassionate individual to provide one-to-one support for a young boy who is profoundly deaf. The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting his learning, communication, and emotional development throughout the school day.

This is a long-term, full-time position and would suit someone who can offer consistency, patience, and a nurturing approach. Building a strong and trusting relationship with the pupil will be key to his success.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide tailored one-to-one support to a young boy who is profoundly deaf.
  • Assist in delivering and adapting learning activities to meet his individual needs.
  • Support his communication and social development in class and around the school.
  • Work collaboratively with the class teacher and SENCO to ensure appropriate support strategies are in place.
  • Demonstrate patience, understanding, and resilience, particularly during moments of frustration.
Requirements:
  • Previous experience supporting children with additional needs or communication difficulties is desirable.
  • Knowledge of or willingness to learn British Sign Language (BSL) is preferred but not essential.
  • A caring, consistent, and nurturing approach.
  • Ability to commit to the role on a long-term basis to ensure continuity and stability.
