Are you an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant looking for a rewarding role supporting a young person on a 1:1 basis?
Smile Education is currently recruiting for a welcoming secondary school in Solihull seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to provide individual support to a pupil with additional needs.
The Role
- Providing 1:1 support to a secondary-aged pupil with additional needs.
- Supporting the pupil with their learning, communication, confidence and engagement.
- Helping the pupil access lessons and participate positively in school life.
- Supporting emotional regulation and positive behaviour where required.
- Intimate care may be required, depending on the pupil's individual needs.
- Working closely with the class teacher, SENCO and wider support team.
- Building a trusting, consistent and positive relationship with the pupil.
- Following individual support plans and school safeguarding procedures.
- Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEN.
- Experience in a secondary school setting is desirable.
- A patient, calm and compassionate approach.
- Confidence supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis.
- Understanding of safeguarding and professional boundaries.
- Comfortable undertaking intimate/personal care if required.
- Reliable, adaptable and committed to supporting the pupil's individual needs.
- £90–£110 per day, depending on experience.
- A supportive secondary school environment.
- A dedicated Smile Education consultant.
- Ongoing support and access to CPD opportunities.
