Support, Inspire and Make a Difference in Denton Smile Education is delighted to be recruiting on behalf of a friendly and inclusive primary academy in the Denton area, working in partnership with the Enquire Learning Trust (ELT).

This welcoming primary school is recognised for its strong sense of community, supportive leadership and commitment to helping every child succeed. Staff work collaboratively to create an engaging learning environment where pupils are encouraged to develop academically, socially and emotionally.

With well-equipped classrooms, excellent learning resources and spacious outdoor facilities, the school offers a positive place to work where staff are valued and encouraged to develop their careers. Conveniently located, the academy is easily accessible from Hyde, Audenshaw, Ashton-under-Lyne, Droylsden, Guide Bridge, Gorton, Reddish, Haughton Green and the surrounding Tameside areas.

We are seeking enthusiastic and experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistants (HLTAs) who are ready to make a real impact from September 2026.

The Role As a Higher Level Teaching Assistant, you will:
  • Deliver pre-planned lessons in the absence of the class teacher.
  • Provide targeted intervention sessions to support pupils' academic progress.
  • Work closely with teachers to plan and deliver engaging learning activities.
  • Support pupils across EYFS, KS1 or KS2, adapting learning to meet individual needs.
  • Promote positive behaviour and create an inclusive, supportive classroom environment.
  • Assist with assessing pupil progress and providing feedback to teaching staff.
  • Build strong relationships with pupils, parents and colleagues while contributing to the wider school community.
The Ideal Candidate
  • Holds a recognised HLTA qualification or has significant experience working at HLTA level within a UK primary school.
  • Minimum of 6 months' UK primary school experience.
  • Confident leading whole-class learning when required.
  • Excellent behaviour management and communication skills.
  • Passionate about supporting children's learning and development.
  • Flexible, proactive and committed to achieving the best outcomes for every pupil.
Essential Requirements
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one through Smile Education.
  • Ability to provide two years of employment and/or education references, including one relating to working with children.
  • Right to work in the UK.
