Smile Education are currently recruiting for a
SEND Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in
Kingswinford, Dudley. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant or someone with a strong interest in supporting children with special educational needs.
The successful candidate will be working within a dedicated
SEND hub, supporting children from
Nursery through to Year 6. The hub provides a supportive environment where pupils can receive the additional help, structure and encouragement they need to access their education and develop their confidence.
The roleAs a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and other support staff to provide targeted support to pupils with a range of
special educational needs and disabilities.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing one-to-one and small group support to pupils with SEND
- Supporting children both within the SEND hub and, where appropriate, in the wider classroom
- Helping pupils to engage with learning and develop their independence
- Supporting children with their social, emotional and communication needs
- Following individual support plans and contributing to pupils' progress
- Working closely with teachers, SENCO and other professionals
- Creating a calm, positive and inclusive learning environment
- Supporting children with their day-to-day routines and personal development
About youWe are looking for someone who is
patient, caring and confident when working with children who may require additional support.
You may already have experience as a
Teaching Assistant, SEND Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, SEN Support Worker or Behaviour Support Worker. Experience working with children with
autism, ADHD, speech and language needs, complex needs or social, emotional and mental health needs would be beneficial.
However, attitude is just as important as experience. We are keen to hear from people who are passionate about helping children overcome barriers to learning and who can build positive relationships with pupils.
You will ideally have:
- Experience working with children or young people
- An understanding of SEND and inclusive education
- A patient and nurturing approach
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- The ability to remain calm and consistent in challenging situations
- A genuine commitment to supporting children's learning and wellbeing
