Are you someone who genuinely wants to make a difference in a child’s life every single day? This could be the role where you see the real impact of your support, patience, and care.
Smile Education are working in partnership with a well-established, all-through SEN school in Wolverhampton, rated
‘Good’ by Ofsted. From the moment you walk through the doors, you’ll notice the calm, supportive atmosphere and a staff team that truly works together. This is a setting where every small win is celebrated, and every member of staff plays a vital role.
This is a full-time opportunity, Monday to Friday (8:30am – 3:30pm), with a clear pathway to a permanent position at the end of the academic year.
What your day will look like You will be working closely on a
1:1 basis with a child, becoming a consistent, trusted presence in their school day. This isn’t just about supporting learning – it’s about building confidence, routine, and a sense of safety.
You are going to:
- Build a genuine, trusting relationship with your pupil, becoming someone they feel comfortable and secure around
- Support them through both learning activities and emotional or behavioural challenges throughout the day
- Work hand-in-hand with the class teacher to adapt learning approaches that suit the child’s individual needs
- Communicate consistently with staff and, where appropriate, family members to ensure a joined-up approach
- Create a calm, positive, and structured environment where the child can thrive at their own pace.
Every day will be different. Some days will be challenging, but many will be incredibly rewarding — especially when you start to see progress, no matter how small.
What we’re looking for This role is ideal for someone who is patient, resilient, and naturally caring. Experience is important, but your attitude and commitment to supporting SEN children is what will really set you apart.
To be considered, you will need:
- An enhanced DBS on the update service (or issued within the last 12 months)
- A Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Teaching Assistant or Health & Social Care
- Previous experience supporting children with SEN, ideally on a 1:1 basis or in small groups
- Experience working within a primary school setting
- Two professional references covering the last two years
What you’ll get in return- Competitive daily rate of £92 – £112, depending on experience
- Flexible payment options (PAYE or Umbrella)
- 12.07% holiday pay
- Access to free CPD training through the Smile portal to support your development
- A referral bonus scheme of up to £200
- Ongoing support from a dedicated consultant who understands your local area and goals
This is more than just a job — it’s an opportunity to be part of a child’s journey and make a lasting impact in a supportive, welcoming school environment.
