SEMH Teaching Assistant – Alternative Provision
Full-Time | Start ASAP

Smile Education is recruiting on behalf of one of our partner Alternative Provisions for a dedicated and resilient SEMH Teaching Assistant to start as soon as possible on a full-time basis.
This is a rewarding opportunity for a passionate Teaching Assistant who is committed to supporting pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, helping them re-engage with education and achieve positive outcomes.

The Role:
  • Support pupils with SEMH needs on a 1:1 and small group basis
  • Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging, differentiated learning
  • Help create a safe, structured and nurturing learning environment
  • Support behaviour management, emotional regulation and positive engagement
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs and wider support staff
The Ideal Candidate:
  • Previous experience working with SEMH, SEND, Alternative Provision or challenging behaviour (essential)
  • A calm, patient and resilient approach
  • Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable young people
