Smile Education is recruiting on behalf of one of our partner Alternative Provisions for a dedicated and resilient SEMH Teaching Assistant to start as soon as possible on a full-time basis.
This is a rewarding opportunity for a passionate Teaching Assistant who is committed to supporting pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, helping them re-engage with education and achieve positive outcomes.
The Role:
- Support pupils with SEMH needs on a 1:1 and small group basis
- Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging, differentiated learning
- Help create a safe, structured and nurturing learning environment
- Support behaviour management, emotional regulation and positive engagement
- Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils
- Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs and wider support staff
- Previous experience working with SEMH, SEND, Alternative Provision or challenging behaviour (essential)
- A calm, patient and resilient approach
- Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
- A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable young people
