SEN teaching assistant – part time – WS10
Smile Education is currently recruiting for an experienced SEN teaching assistant to support a pupil within a primary school in the WS10 area. This is a part-time opportunity working every Thursday and Friday, making it ideal for an experienced teaching assistant looking for consistent and regular school-based work.
The role
You will be supporting a pupil with additional educational needs, helping them access their learning and develop both academically and socially. The successful candidate will play an important role in providing consistent support and helping the pupil feel confident and settled within the school environment.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing 1:1 support to help the pupil access classroom learning
- Supporting the pupil with their academic, social and emotional development
- Helping the pupil remain engaged and focused during lessons
- Supporting emotional regulation and positive behaviour
- Building a strong, trusting and consistent relationship with the pupil
- Encouraging independence, confidence and positive interaction
- Adapting your approach to meet the individual needs of the pupil
- Supporting classroom activities and working alongside the class teacher
- Communicating effectively with the class teacher and wider school team
- Helping create a calm, positive and inclusive learning environment
We are looking for an experienced SEN teaching assistant who is passionate about supporting children and able to build strong, positive relationships.
The ideal candidate will be:
- Experienced working with children with SEN
- Patient, calm and consistent in their approach
- Confident supporting children with additional needs
- Comfortable supporting behaviour and emotional regulation
- Able to remain calm and professional in challenging situations
- Proactive and willing to get involved
- Reliable and committed to working every Thursday and Friday
- Able to work effectively as part of a wider school team
- Passionate about helping children develop their confidence and independence
Previous experience supporting children with Autism, ADHD, SEMH or other additional needs would be desirable.
