Pay: £83.40–£100.00 per day (depends on qualifications)
Age Group: 5–11 years (Key Stage 1 and 2)
Contract: Full-Time, Long-Term
About the Role:As a
SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting pupils with additional needs to achieve their full potential in both academic and social development. This is a
long-term role starting
September 2025.
Key Responsibilities- Provide tailored 1:1 and small group support to children with a range of special educational needs (including ASD, ADHD, speech and language needs, and emotional/behavioural challenges)
- Work closely with class teachers to implement personalised learning strategies
- Adapt classroom materials and activities to suit individual learning styles and needs
- Support children in building communication, social skills, and emotional regulation
- Help with personal care and mobility where necessary, maintaining dignity and comfort
- Monitor and record pupil progress, reporting to the class teacher and SENCO
- Foster a safe, supportive, and inclusive classroom environment
- Assist with classroom management and contribute to a positive learning atmosphere
What We’re Looking For- Experience working with SEN children, preferably in a primary school setting
- Background in care or support work is desirable
- Patient, empathetic, and enthusiastic attitude
- Ability to adapt and respond calmly to challenging behaviour
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- A full enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one through Smile Education)
