Do you have a passion for supporting children with social, emotional, and mental health needs?

Are you looking for a new Teaching Assistant role in a supportive, welcoming school?

Smile Education are currently recruiting on behalf of a wonderful special educational needs (SEN) school situated in the Leicestershire countryside. The school are looking to meet Teaching Assistants/Graduates to work 1-to-1 and in small groups, supporting students with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH)needs.

SEMH needs are a specific type of SEN, where children have trouble managing their emotions and/or behaviour. They therefore need additional support to help them access education. As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will be involved in supporting the classroom teacher, as well as planning and delivering small group and 1-to-1 interventions for those children who need additional support. This is a full-time, long-term role, allowing you to build strong, positive relationships with the pupils.

The school itself is set in 27-ares of Leicestershire countryside and is home to some fantastic purpose-built facilities. The school follows a varied curriculum, with a focus on developing emotional resilience and preparing students for the world of work. The school is currently undergoing a period of growth, so this is an exciting time to join the team as an SEMH Teaching Assistant.

This is an extremely rewarding position as you will be providing crucial support to students, and you will have the opportunity to have a lasting impact on a child’s academic, social, and emotional development. If you are a graduate, this SEMH Teaching Assistant role is a wonderful opportunity to gain valuable hands-on experience before undertaking further training as a teacher/educational psychologist.

As with any role where you are supporting children with additional needs, it can at time be challenging and ideally candidates will have previous experience supporting individuals with social, emotional, and mental health/special educational needs.
