Qualified Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA)
Location: Stockton
Hours: 35.5 hours per week, term-time only + 5 days
Salary: £100–£110 per day

We are currently looking for a
qualified Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a school in Stockton.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced and committed HLTA who is passionate about supporting children and helping pupils achieve their full potential.
The main purpose of the role As an HLTA, you will:
- Work closely with class teachers to raise pupils’ learning and attainment.
- Promote pupils’ independence, self-esteem and social inclusion.
- Provide support to individual pupils and groups, enabling them to access the curriculum and participate fully in learning.
- Support pupils to develop confidence and experience a sense of achievement.
- Lead and cover classes, under supervision, when required.
- Support pupils with SEND and promote an inclusive learning environment.
Key responsibilities You will be responsible for:
- Supporting teachers with the delivery of a broad and balanced curriculum.
- Using effective teaching and learning strategies to support pupil progress.
- Managing behaviour effectively and maintaining a safe and positive learning environment.
- Preparing classrooms and organising teaching resources.
- Observing pupils and providing feedback to teachers regarding their progress and development.
- Supporting assessment, planning, monitoring and recording of pupil progress.
- Planning and delivering structured activities that engage and motivate pupils.
- Using ICT effectively to support learning.
- Working collaboratively with teachers, support staff and other professionals.
- Communicating appropriately with parents and carers under the direction of the class teacher.
- Supporting pupils' wellbeing and safeguarding in line with Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) and school policies.
- Supervising and caring for children who may be upset or have accidents.
- Taking part in professional development and the school's appraisal process.
Essential requirements
Please do not apply unless you meet the following requirements:- You must hold a recognised HLTA qualification or appropriate equivalent qualification/experience for the role.
- You must have relevant experience working with children in an educational setting.
- You must be able to provide reliable and contactable professional references.
- You must hold a DBS on the Update Service or be willing to apply for a new DBS.
- You must have a strong understanding of safeguarding and be committed to promoting the safety and wellbeing of children.
- You must have excellent communication, organisation and behaviour-management skills.
- You must be able to work effectively as part of a school team.
