Do you like the idea of working within an alternative provision?

A PRU based in the Cannock Chase area are currently looking for an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to start in November 2019. The provision caters for up to 50 Secondary students in KS3/KS4 with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties who have been excluded from mainstream education.

The students within the centre have mixed needs ranging from Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs so it is important that the ideal applicant has a very good understanding of the needs of the students in order to support them appropriately.

Each class has up to 10 students with an experienced Teacher. The role will involve supporting the class and Teacher with various subjects across the National Curriculum including core subjects Mathematics and English. On occasions, you will be required to support students on a one to one basis or in small groups.

The role is a full-time role based on working 5 days per week from Monday to Friday with the potential of progressing into a permanent position for the right applicant. 

Due to the specialist requirements of the children, it is important that the ideal applicant is comfortable working in an environment whereby the learners display challenging behaviours.

Successful applicants will successfully have:
  • Ideally, 12 months experience working with EBD students
  • Two recent references
  • A DBS registered to the update service or be willing to have a new DBS processed
  • Valid Team Teach certificate is desirable
