Supporting children in education – Worcester primary schools
Smile Education is looking to register caring, enthusiastic and motivated people who are interested in supporting children within primary schools across Worcester. We are particularly interested in hearing from people who have experience working with children or young people, or from candidates looking to develop their experience and build a career within education.
You may have a background in sports coaching, youth work, mentoring, care, support work, childcare, behaviour support or another role where you have developed strong communication and relationship-building skills.
The opportunities
We recruit for a range of school-based support roles, including:
- Teaching assistants
- SEN teaching assistants
- 1:1 support assistants
- Learning support assistants
- Behaviour mentors
- Pastoral support workers
- Sports and activity support
- Care and support assistants
- Classroom support assistants
You could be supporting children across primary age groups, helping them to engage with learning and develop their confidence, independence and social skills.
The role may involve:
- Supporting children within the classroom
- Providing 1:1 or small-group support
- Helping pupils access their learning
- Supporting children with additional needs
- Encouraging positive behaviour and engagement
- Supporting emotional regulation
- Building positive relationships with pupils
- Helping children develop their confidence and independence
- Supporting classroom activities and school routines
- Working alongside teachers and other school staff
- Providing encouragement and reassurance throughout the school day
Experience with SEN is particularly valuable, and we welcome candidates who have supported children with:
- Autism/ASC
- ADHD
- SEMH
- Communication and interaction needs
- Behavioural needs
- Emotional regulation difficulties
- Additional learning needs
Your previous experience could come from a wide range of backgrounds, including:
- Childcare
- Sports or football coaching
- Youth work
- Care or support work
- Mentoring
- Behaviour support
- Community work
- Residential care
- Working with vulnerable children or young people
