Are you a newly qualified Teaching Assistant looking to gain valuable classroom experience while maintaining flexibility around your studies or other commitments?

Smile Education is recruiting for enthusiastic and dedicated Teaching Assistants to support a specialist school in Wolverhampton from the start of the new academic year. This opportunity is ideal for individuals who are beginning their career in education, planning to start university, or seeking flexible work that fits around existing commitments.

This welcoming and highly supportive school requires Teaching Assistants on a regular basis to cover staff absence, training courses, and to support a growing number of students joining the school throughout the year.

About the SchoolThe school provides specialist education for students with a wide range of additional needs and supports pupils from across eight local authorities.

Students may have:
  • Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
  • ADHD
  • Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD)
  • Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
  • Sensory impairments
  • Non-verbal communication needs
This role offers an excellent opportunity for someone who already has experience supporting children with SEND or for those looking to develop a long-term career within special education.

The RoleAs a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with experienced teachers and support staff within the classroom. Depending on the needs of the school, your responsibilities may include:
  • Supporting students on a 1:1 basis
  • Delivering small group interventions
  • Assisting with classroom activities and learning tasks
  • Promoting positive behaviour and engagement
  • Supporting students with communication, social and emotional development
  • Helping to create a safe, inclusive and nurturing learning environment
You will be based within a class alongside multiple Teaching Assistants, providing excellent support and opportunities to learn from experienced colleagues.

We Are Looking For Candidates Who:
  • Hold a Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent)
  • Have experience working with children or young people, ideally within an educational setting
  • Have an interest in supporting students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
  • Are patient, caring and adaptable
  • Can work effectively as part of a team
  • Are confident using their own initiative when required
  • Are looking to gain valuable experience within education
  • Are available for flexible work throughout the academic year
