Smile Education is recruiting on behalf of a large primary school in Dudley that is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Intervention Teaching Assistant to join its SEND provision from September.

This is an exciting opportunity to work within a well-established and supportive school environment, providing targeted intervention support to children across Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2. The school is looking to strengthen its SEND team by appointing an individual who is passionate about helping children overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential.

The Role
As an Intervention Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers, SEND professionals, and support staff to deliver tailored interventions that support pupils' academic, social, emotional, and communication development.
You will be supporting children with a range of additional needs, including:
  • Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
  • ADHD
  • Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN)
  • Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD)
  • Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
  • Other additional learning and developmental needs
Your role may involve working with pupils on a one-to-one basis, in small groups, or within the classroom to provide targeted support and intervention programmes.
Responsibilities
  • Deliver planned interventions to support learning and development
  • Work with pupils across Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2
  • Support children with SEND to access the curriculum
  • Monitor and record pupil progress
  • Build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and families
  • Encourage independence, confidence, and engagement in learning
  • Support pupils' emotional regulation and wellbeing
  • Follow EHCP targets and individual learning plans where appropriate
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
  • Previous experience working with children with SEND
  • Experience delivering interventions or targeted support programmes
  • A patient, nurturing, and adaptable approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • The ability to build positive relationships with pupils
  • Confidence supporting children with a range of additional needs
  • A genuine passion for making a difference in children's lives
Essential Requirements
  • Hold a Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant or Childcare qualification
  • Experience working with children or young people within an educational setting
  • Previous experience supporting pupils with SEND
  • A minimum of two professional references covering the last two years
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one through Smile Education
  • The right to work in the UK
