Are you an experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant looking for a rewarding role where you can take the next step in supporting children's learning?

Smile Education is recruiting confident, enthusiastic and dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistants (HLTAs) to support welcoming and inclusive primary schools across Hull and the surrounding areas.

Opportunities available:

PPA cover – delivering pre-planned lessons while teachers undertake planning, preparation and assessment.
Whole-class support and supervision – confidently leading learning activities across EYFS, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2.
Small-group interventions – supporting pupils with literacy, numeracy and targeted learning activities.
SEN support – adapting learning to meet the needs of children with additional educational needs.
Flexible supply work – choose the days that suit your availability.
Long-term placements – providing continuity and building strong relationships with pupils and school teams.

What we're looking for:

Ideally, recognised HLTA status or a relevant UK-recognised Level 4 HLTA qualification.
A minimum UK-recognised Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification, with substantial experience undertaking higher-level responsibilities.
Previous experience working as an HLTA or experienced Teaching Assistant within a UK primary school.
Confidence delivering pre-planned lessons and supervising whole classes.
A strong understanding of the primary curriculum across EYFS, KS1 and KS2.
Excellent classroom management and positive behaviour support skills.
Experience supporting pupils with different learning abilities and additional needs.
Strong communication, organisational and teamwork skills.
A proactive, adaptable approach and a genuine passion for children's education.

Essential requirements:

Relevant UK-recognised Teaching Assistant qualification, ideally Level 4 HLTA or recognised HLTA status.
Proven experience supporting teaching and learning in a UK primary school.
Confidence supervising whole classes and delivering learning activities under the direction of a qualified teacher.
Right to work in the UK.
Enhanced child workforce DBS registered on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for a new DBS.
Satisfactory professional references and completion of all required safeguarding and compliance checks.
