Smile Education are currently recruiting for a Behaviour Mentor to join a secondary school in the Cannock area.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Providing targeted one-to-one and small-group support to students experiencing behavioural, social or emotional difficulties.
  • Building positive, trusting relationships with students and acting as a consistent and positive role model.
  • Supporting students to understand and manage their behaviour and develop positive strategies for self-regulation.
  • Working closely with teaching staff and pastoral teams to identify barriers to learning and implement appropriate support.
  • Helping students develop their confidence, resilience, independence and social skills.
  • Supporting students to engage positively with their education and make progress both academically and personally.
  • Monitoring student behaviour, progress and engagement, providing feedback to relevant staff.
  • Supporting the implementation of behaviour plans and school expectations.
  • De-escalating challenging situations calmly and appropriately.
  • Promoting a calm, safe and inclusive learning environment.
  • Providing pastoral support to students who may require additional guidance and encouragement.
The School Are Looking For
  • Previous experience working with children or young people, particularly within an educational or pastoral setting, is desirable.
  • Experience supporting students with challenging behaviour, SEMH or additional needs would be an advantage.
  • A calm, patient and resilient approach to supporting young people.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to build positive and trusting relationships with students.
  • Confidence in managing challenging behaviour and maintaining professional boundaries.
  • The ability to remain calm and consistent in difficult situations.
  • Flexibility, reliability and a professional approach.
  • A genuine passion for helping young people overcome barriers and achieve their potential.
