1 to 1 Teaching Assistant needed in Wednesbury

Smile Education are currently working with a Wednesbury Primary School to assist them in their search for a Level 3 Teaching Assistant to support a nonverbal Reception pupil, on a 1:1 basis.

The headteacher of the well-known primary school, based in WS10, is looking for a confident and engaging individual to join their team of educators as soon as possible, on a full-time basis. The position will see the successful candidate support the pupil throughout their learning day, until the end of the academic year in July, and potentially into the new academic year.

The role will see you support a nonverbal Reception pupil throughout all lessons. You will work closely with the class teacher to adapt activities and tasks to suit the individual needs of the child you are supporting, as well as working with other members of staff to encourage development within the child.

The school are keen to work with an individual who has previous experience of supporting a child with SEN needs, with previous experience of supporting nonverbal pupils being highly desirable. A good knowledge of the Reception national curriculum is desired, with applicants being familiar with the KS1 assessments.

To be successful in your application, you should be able to build good rapport with both pupils and other members of staff and be confident in supporting a pupil with SEN needs on a one-to-one basis. You should be Level 3 Qualified or equivalent and have previous experience of supporting children throughout KS1.
