Smile Education are currently recruiting Teaching Assistants for SEN schools across Walsall. This opportunity is ideal for candidates looking to transition from children’s residential care into a school-based role, offering more sociable hours and a better work-life balance.

The Role:
  • Supporting students with Special Educational Needs within Primary and Secondary schools
  • Working on a 1:1 and small group basis within the classroom
  • Assisting pupils with a range of additional needs, including social, emotional, and behavioural challenges
  • Supporting students’ academic progress, emotional regulation, and independence
  • Working closely with teaching staff and SEN professionals to create a positive learning environment
This Role Is Perfect For Candidates Who:
  • Have experience working in children’s residential care or similar settings
  • Are confident managing challenging behaviour
  • Are passionate about supporting young people to achieve their potential
  • Want to transition into education while maintaining a healthy work-life balance

Requirements:
  • Experience working with children or young people (residential care experience highly desirable)
  • A relevant qualification (e.g., Level 2/3 in Health & Social Care, Supporting Teaching & Learning, or equivalent – desirable)
  • Strong communication skills, patience, and resilience
  • A proactive and positive attitude
