Are you a compassionate, resilient, and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant looking to make a genuine difference in the lives of children with Special Educational Needs?
We are seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join a highly supportive Special SEN school in Tamworth that provides education and care for pupils from Nursery through to Year 6. The school caters for children with a wide range of complex needs and prides itself on creating a nurturing, inclusive environment where every child can thrive socially, emotionally, and academically.

The school supports pupils with:
  • Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD)
  • Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD)
  • Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
  • Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN)
  • Physical and sensory needs
The school is committed to developing caring, creative citizens by helping pupils build self-knowledge, self-esteem, confidence, independence, and positive relationships with others.

The Role As a Teaching Assistant, you will:
  • Support pupils with a range of complex learning and communication needs
  • Work closely with teachers and therapists to deliver tailored learning opportunities
  • Promote pupils’ independence, emotional wellbeing, and social development
  • Support the implementation of EHCP targets and personalised learning strategies
  • Encourage positive behaviour and engagement within the classroom
  • Build strong relationships with pupils, families, and external professionals
  • Help create a safe, stimulating, and inclusive learning environment
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
  • NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Supporting Teaching and Learning, Childcare, Health & Social Care, Family Support, or a related field
  • Proven experience working with children with SEND and their families
  • Knowledge of safeguarding practices and child protection procedures
  • Experience working alongside multi-agency professionals including health and social care teams
  • Understanding of SEND processes, EHCPs, and early help frameworks, or a willingness to develop this knowledge
  • Additional training or professional development in areas such as ASD, SEMH, speech and language needs, or complex care (desirable)
