Smile Education’s dedicated SEN team are currently recruiting for an experienced and passionate Teaching Assistant to join a supportive and nurturing special needs school based in Tamworth. This school caters for pupils from Nursery through to Year 6 across three sites, providing a high standard of care and education to children with a wide range of needs.

About the Role
As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will become an essential part of a highly skilled professional team, supporting students in both small groups and on a one-to-one basis to help them thrive in class and achieve their individual milestones.
The children’s needs vary significantly, so flexibility, empathy, and adaptability are key to success in this role. You may be supporting pupils with:
  • ASD
  • ADHD
  • SEMH
  • PMLD
  • Sensory needs
Requirements To be considered for this position, you must have:
  • Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Childcare or as a Teaching Assistant (no other qualifications will be accepted)
  • A genuine passion for supporting children’s education and development
  • A strong background working with children with additional needs
  • Knowledge and understanding of the primary school curriculum
  • The ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • An enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one through Smile Education
  • Two references covering the past two years, each commenting on your direct experience working with children
