Smile Education are currently recruiting for a dedicated
Level 3 Teaching Assistant to join a supportive Special Needs Primary School based in
Wolverhampton.
This is a
full-time, long-term opportunity within a specialist setting that provides a nurturing and academic approach to learning.
About the Role
You will be working within a mixed-age class of
Year 1, 2, 3 and 4 pupils who follow a
formal learning pathway. The class benefits from a
high staff ratio, enabling a personalised approach to support both learning and development.
The daily routine is structured to balance
child-focused and adult-supported activities, adapted to meet pupils’ needs. A full range of subjects is delivered through a thematic curriculum cycle, ensuring broad academic coverage alongside social and emotional development.

Key Responsibilities
- Supporting pupils with additional needs across the curriculum
- Delivering structured, adult-supported learning activities
- Promoting independence and confidence
- Assisting with personal care where required
- Supporting behaviour and emotional regulation
- Working closely with teaching staff and the wider multidisciplinary team
Independence & Life Skills Development A strong emphasis is placed on developing independence through:
Personal Care- Supporting dressing after PE and swimming
- Encouraging basic hygiene (toileting, handwashing, self-care)
Life Skills- Supporting food preparation during cooking sessions
- Encouraging responsibility for tidying and organisation
- Developing communication of wants and needs
- Promoting independent access to resources
Community Engagement- Supporting pupils to access indoor and outdoor environments
- Accompanying visits to local shops, parks, libraries and cafés
- Encouraging positive contribution to the school and wider community
Candidate Requirements
- Minimum Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification
- Recent UK school-based experience
- Experience supporting children with additional or complex needs
- Ability to commit full-time on a long-term basis
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
- References covering the past 2 years (including one relating to work with children)
- Safeguarding training (or willingness to complete training provided)
