Speech and Language Teaching Assistant

Smile Education is working in partnership with Shireland Colligiate Academy Trust in their recruitment of a Speech, Language, and Communication Needs Support worker. This school is located close to the City Centre and the student achievement is among the highest in England. This role is offered on a long-term full-time basis and the school wants someone who has experience with KS5 who can fully commit to the role.

The successful candidate will be expected to fulfil all aspects of the role including:
  • Identifying students wth SLCN within the Academy
  • Ongoing monitoring and recording of SLCN students on the register
  • Delivering targeted wellbeing activities such as a daily lunch club
  • Providing interventions for students with communication and interaction difficulties

The successful candidate must have:
  • Experience working with children and young people with SLCN
  • 2 education based references
  • A passion for supporting young people
  • Good approach to behaviour management
  • A determined, hard-working attitude
