Experienced SEN Teaching Assistant – Mornings Only
We are seeking a highly experienced, confident and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to work within a supportive primary school.

Start date: Week commencing 21 September
Hours: Mornings only
Location: Hyde
Pay: £62.70 to £72.60 (PAYE) per morning 

The school is looking for an experienced practitioner with a strong understanding of social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs, emotional regulation and positive behaviour support.

The successful candidate will:
  • Recognise potential triggers and early signs of dysregulation.
  • Intervene proactively to prevent situations from escalating.
  • Use calm, consistent and predictable approaches.
  • Model emotional vocabulary and effective calming strategies.
  • Support emotional regulation and self-soothing techniques.
  • Use visual resources and structured interventions effectively.
  • Provide reassurance during transitions and challenging situations.
  • Use trauma-informed and emotion-coaching approaches.
  • Follow structured teaching methods, including TEACCH-informed principles where appropriate.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, the SENCO and other professionals.
Essential requirements:
  • Significant experience supporting primary-aged children with complex SEN or SEMH needs.
  • Confidence responding to dysregulation and challenging behaviour.
  • A calm, resilient and consistent approach.
  • A strong understanding of trauma-informed and child-centred practice.
  • Relevant SEN, SEMH, Team Teach, de-escalation or positive behaviour-support training is highly desirable.
  • An enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to complete a new application.
