SEND Teaching Assistant

Smile Education are seeking a passionate and experienced SEND Teaching Assistant to join a supportive Primary School in the Walsall area. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of children with additional needs while working in a nurturing school environment that supports both pupils and their families.

About the Role
  • Support children with a range of SEND needs including SEMH, ASD, ADHD and sensory needs
  • Provide 1:1 and 2:1 support tailored to the needs of individual pupils
  • Work closely with teaching staff to follow the curriculum and deliver engaging learning activities
  • Support with behaviour management and setting clear, consistent boundaries
  • Help to create a safe, inclusive and positive learning environment
Initially, the role will be part-time and will progress to full-time once pupils are settled and routines are established.

The ideal candidate will:
  • Have proven experience supporting children with SEND in a school or childcare setting (a minimum of 2 references will be required)
  • Hold a minimum Level 2 qualification in Childcare or Education (please note: non-relevant qualifications will not be considered)
  • Be confident in supporting children with behaviour management strategies
  • Be able to adapt learning to meet individual needs
  • Hold an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one through Smile Education)
