Smile Education is working in partnership with a well-respected primary school located in the B8 area of Birmingham, seeking a dedicated Special Educational Needs Coordinator to join their team.
This inclusive school has been praised by Ofsted for creating “a welcoming, safe environment where pupils feel happy and cared for.” You’ll play a vital role in ensuring every child has access to the support they need to succeed.
Position Details:
- Role: SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator)
- Location: Birmingham (B8 postcode)
- Start Date: Immediate or September 2025
- Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday
Key Responsibilities:
✔ Lead on the school’s SEND provision, ensuring the needs of all pupils with additional needs are met
✔ Work collaboratively with staff, families, and external agencies to provide tailored support
✔ Develop, implement, and monitor individual learning plans and EHCPs
✔ Provide guidance and training to staff on inclusive practices
✔ Monitor pupil progress and maintain accurate SEND records
✔ Ensure the school complies with statutory SEND requirements.
What We’re Looking For:
✅ Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – National SENCO Award preferred (or willingness to work towards it)
✅ Experience working with children with a range of additional needs
✅ Strong understanding of SEND legislation and inclusive education
✅ Excellent communication and organisational skills
✅ A nurturing, solution-focused, and committed approach
✅ Eligibility to work in the UK
✅ Enhanced DBS (or willingness to apply).
