SEN Teaching Assistant – Role Overview:
As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:
- Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with autism, ADHD, or social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH)
- Build strong, trusting relationships with students to support their emotional and academic development
- Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and therapists to deliver personalised learning
- Maintain a positive and calm classroom environment
- Support students both in class and during structured break times
- Some personal care responsibilities may be required depending on student needs
SEN Teaching Assistant – The Ideal Candidate:
- Degree-level qualification or Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant or SEND qualification
- Experience working in SEN, care, youth work, or educational settings
- Knowledge of autism, ADHD, or challenging behaviour support strategies
- Calm, patient, and empathetic with a proactive mindset
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Committed to safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing
