SEN Teaching Assistant – Immediate Start – Cheshire

We are currently seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a highly supportive and forward-thinking SEN school in Cheshire. Whether you’re an experienced Teaching Assistant or a psychology graduate looking to kickstart your career in education, this could be the perfect opportunity for you!


About the Role – SEN Teaching Assistant
  • Start Date: Immediate
  • Location: Cheshire
  • Contract Type: Full-time, Long-term (with potential for permanent placement)
  • Salary: Competitive, based on experience


As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with students who have Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and other additional learning needs. You’ll provide 1:1 and small group support, helping students achieve their full academic and social potential in a safe, inclusive environment.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored support to students with SEN on a 1:1 basis or in small groups
  • Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging, differentiated lessons
  • Implement strategies outlined in students’ EHCPs (Education, Health and Care Plans)
  • Support the emotional, social, and academic development of students
  • Carry out personal care duties when required
  • Collaborate with teaching staff, therapists, and external professionals
  • Maintain a safe, positive, and inclusive classroom environment


Requirements:

  • Relevant qualification (e.g. Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant, Psychology degree, or equivalent)
  • Experience supporting individuals with SEN (in education, care, or voluntary settings)
  • Calm, patient, and compassionate approach
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
