SEN Teaching Assistant – Immediate Start | Stockport


Are you a compassionate, resilient, and proactive individual passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people?


We're looking for a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a thriving specialist secondary school in Stockport on a permanent basis, supporting students with additional learning needs and behavioural challenges.


This is an immediate start opportunity for someone who wants to build a rewarding career in special education or progress in psychology or related fields.


About the Role – SEN Teaching Assistant
  • Support students with special educational needs (SEND) across KS3 and KS4
  • Provide 1:1, small group, and whole-class support
  • Assist with behaviour management and implement de-escalation strategies
  • Work closely with experienced teachers, SENCOs, and therapists
  • Help students overcome barriers to learning and unlock their full potential
  • Flexibility to work across different classes and year groups


What We’re Looking For

  • Experience working in education or care settings
  • Understanding of SEND, particularly autism (ASC) and challenging behaviour
  • Confidence in using de-escalation techniques
  • A calm, empathetic, and patient approach
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g. Teaching Assistant qualification, SEND certificate, or a degree in Education, Psychology, or related field)
