Smile Education are currently working in Partnership with the Endeavour Trust to support with their recruitment for four SEN teaching assistants on a temp to perm basis starting as soon as possible at one of their Primary and Secondary Schools based in Tamworth. This role would be perfect for someone looking for a new challenge in the education sector or ideal for candidates looking to transition from working in residential/care settings with experience supporting children and adult with additional needs.
About the School:
The schools support students with additional need who have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). Both schools cater for students aged between Nursery through to 6th form.

About the Role:
- The role is full time leading to a permanent position after successfully 12 weeks.
- Required to support across the school with students on an individual basis and in small group depending on the needs of the students.
- Following education plans that have been put in place to make sure all students are achieving their goals.
- Being a positive role model for students.
- To be a supportive member of the team.
- Being trustworthy,reliable and flexible as the day to day requirements may change
- Working with outside professional
- Using your previous knowledge and experience of supporting individuals with specific needs to access the curriculum.
- Using your professional skills to manage to behaviour and follow the school behaviour policies.
- Will be required to complete observations and paperwork for individual students.
- Attend any training and meetings necessary.
Candidate requirements:
- Recent experience supporting children or young adults with additional needs. In particular ADHD, ASD, Complex Needs, SEMH, Behaviour and hearing impairment.
- Have a sound knowledge and understanding of support individuals with complex needs.
- A relevant qualification isn't essential but desired. Ideally a minimum of a level 2 in Health & Social Care or Teaching Assistant.
- Ability to work independently and follow instruction.
- Hold an enhanced DBS or willing to apply for a new one through Smile Education.
- Able to provide a minimum of 2 years worth of references including your most recent employer and a minimum of one commenting on your interaction with children.
As this role is to start as soon as possible.
