Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant Level 3 (Alternative Provision)
Location: Birmingham, B32
Pay: £95 – £115 per day (dependent on experience)
Contract: Full-time opportunity, Monday–Friday until the end of the academic year
Smile Education is proud to be supporting a welcoming primary school and Alternative Provision setting that is seeking a passionate Level 3 SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a dedicated and experienced Teaching Assistant to support pupils with additional needs, helping to deliver engaging and inclusive learning while promoting both academic progress and personal development. The role is ideal for individuals with SEN experience who are committed to making a meaningful impact on children’s lives.
The Role:• Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with a range of special educational needs
• Support the delivery of engaging and inclusive lessons alongside the class teacher
• Assist in implementing personalised learning programmes in line with EHCPs and IEPs
• Promote a safe, structured, and supportive learning environment
• Support behaviour management using positive and consistent strategies
• Use differentiated and multi-sensory approaches to meet individual learning needs
• Build strong, positive relationships with pupils and staff
• Contribute to pupil progress tracking and feedback
• Promote safeguarding, wellbeing, and inclusion at all times

Requirements:• Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent) – essential
• Minimum of 6 months’ experience working with pupils with Autism
• At least 3 months’ experience supporting pupils with SEN
• Previous experience within an Alternative Provision setting (desirable)
• Professional, nurturing, and resilient approach
• Strong behaviour management skills
• Reliable and committed to a full-time role – consistency is key for these pupils
• Able to provide a minimum of two references covering the past two years (including one related to working with children)
• Hold an enhanced DBS on the Update Service or be willing to obtain one through Smile Education
