At Smile Education we are currently on the search for a dedicated and experienced SEN Teacher in Birmingham who want to make a positive impact and support children and young people with Special Educational Needs. Working with children with SEN gives you the opportunity to make a significant difference to their lives and their future.

Smile Education is currently working with a school in Telford, that caters to children and young people in Ks2 and Ks3 with a range of special educational, behavioural, emotional, and social needs. The school is made up of small classes, where you are able to work with small groups of children and provide individual learning opportunities with the support of hardworking learning support assistants.

The ideal applicant must be able to work as team as well as under their own initiative and lead a class. Enthusiasm, a genuine interest, and experience working with children with SEN is essential. Applicants will also be required to go through our compliance screening and vetting process which includes a virtual interview, DBS checks and safeguarding training.

For the right candidates, there is immediate starts available the role could last until potentially the end of summer term with opportunities for a permanent position.

To be successful in your application, it’s ideal to have experience in one or more of the following:

  • Exceptionally dedicated to supporting pupils with special educational needs.
  • Willing to work as part of a committed team and guiding others.
  • Experienced working with children with SEN, moderate learning difficulties, and/or emotional, behaviour and social needs.
  • Holds QTS or a relevant teaching qualification.
  • You will be using the National Curriculum to deliver tailored educational programmes to suit the young people in your class.
  • Able to work alongside Learning Support Staff in your classroom to ensure the needs of all your students are met.
  • Experienced delivering quality learning opportunities to students throughout the school day and using strategies to motivate and inspire children.


About the role:
  • Supporting students with Special educational needs – including Autism, Moderate learning difficulties and behavioural needs such as ADHD and Emotional behavioural disorder.
  • You will be supporting teaching assistants in managing pupil behaviour.
  • You will be working to provide tailored activities that cater to individual needs of the child
  • You will use your kind and caring nature to provide a safe space for young people to grow and develop
  • Carrying daily session plans to enable the students to get the best quality education
