SEN Teaching Assistant – Sixth Form & College Provision
Location: B23
Pay: £95 – £115 per day (depending on experience)
Contract: Full-time, Monday to Friday – Long-term opportunity
Smile Education is proud to be supporting a vibrant Sixth Form and College SEN provision in the B23 area. We are seeking a passionate, inclusive and adaptable Teaching Assistant who can confidently support young people with additional needs and engage them in a meaningful, motivating way.
This role requires someone energetic, personable and confident — someone who can build positive relationships and bring learning to life for post-16 learners.
About the Setting
- Specialist Sixth Form and College SEN provision
- Learners aged 16–19 with a range of additional needs

The Role
- Provide 1:1 and small group support to learners with SEN
- Support learners with Autism, ADHD, SEMH and communication needs
- Assist with vocational, academic and life skills sessions
- Encourage independence, confidence and social development
- Adapt learning materials to meet individual needs
- Support emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies
- Build engaging, respectful and professional relationships with young adults
- Promote inclusion, safeguarding and wellbeing at all times
The ideal candidate will be confident interacting with young people and able to make sessions engaging, structured and enjoyable.
Requirements
- Experience supporting young people with SEN (minimum 6 months preferred)
- Confident, adaptable and enthusiastic personality
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to engage and motivate post-16 learners
- Professional, patient and resilient approach
- Able to provide two references covering the past two years
- Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to obtain one
