Smile Education is proud to be working in partnership with a large specialist SEN school in Shrewsbury, supporting their recruitment of SEN Teaching Assistants due to staff absence, increased funding, and rising pupil numbers.

This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a passionate and dedicated team making a real difference to the lives of children and young people with a wide range of complex needs.

About the School:
The school supports pupils aged 2.5 to 25 with a diverse range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) including:
  • Moderate, severe, and profound learning difficulties
  • Autism and associated communication challenges
  • Complex medical conditions and physical/mobility difficulties
  • Behavioural needs related to medical or neurodevelopmental conditions
Pupils are supported in small groups or on a 1:1 basis, with a focus on tailored learning, care, and social development.

What We’re Looking For:
  • A relevant Level 2 or higher qualification (education or youth-related)
  • Recent experience (within the past 12 months) in a similar SEND support role
  • Confident supporting students independently and in small groups
  • A flexible and proactive approach to working across various needs and age groups
  • A strong commitment to providing high-quality care and inclusive education
  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one through Smile Education
