SEN Swim Instructor (Part-Time) supporting a specialist SEN school
Location: B21, Birmingham
Salary: Competitive hourly rate – dependent on experience
Job Type: Part-time | Term Time Only
Hours: Flexible part-time hours - 1 day per week 

About the Role Smile Education is currently supporting a specialist SEN school in recruiting a compassionate and enthusiastic SEN Swim Instructor to work with students aged 14–17.
The school supports young people with a range of additional needs including autism, learning disabilities, communication difficulties, and sensory needs. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone passionate about inclusive education, wellbeing, and helping young people build confidence in the water.
Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver safe, engaging, and inclusive swimming lessons
  • Adapt teaching methods to meet a range of SEN needs and abilities
  • Promote water confidence, independence, and physical wellbeing
  • Work closely with school staff and support assistants during sessions
  • Maintain a calm, positive, and supportive environment
  • Follow safeguarding, health & safety, and pool procedures at all times
Requirements
  • ASA/STA Swim Teaching Qualification (or equivalent)
  • Experience working with children or young people with SEN is desirable
  • Patient, empathetic, and adaptable approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one
Desirable
  • Lifeguard qualification
  • Previous experience within an SEN or school setting
