SEN HLTA – Primary (Complex Needs) Location: B34
Pay: £110 – £130 per day (Based on experience)
Contract: Full-time opportunity, Monday–Friday until the end of the academic year
Smile Education is proud to be supporting a welcoming primary school and alternate provision setting that is seeking a dedicated
SEN Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join their team.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced SEN HLTA to support pupils with
complex needs, working closely with the class teacher to deliver structured, engaging and inclusive learning. The role is ideal for someone with strong SEN experience across
KS1 and/or KS2, who is passionate about making a real difference to children who require additional support.
The Role
• Support the delivery of engaging, inclusive lessons tailored to pupils with complex special educational needs
• Lead small group and 1:1 interventions under the direction of the class teacher
• Assist with planning and delivering personalised learning programmes in line with EHCPs and IEPs
• Create a safe, calm and structured learning environment that promotes positive behaviour
• Support pupils with emotional regulation, communication and social development
• Use differentiated, multi-sensory approaches to meet individual learning needs
• Work closely with teachers, SENCOs and external professionals
• Build strong, positive relationships with pupils and parents/carers
• Support assessments, progress tracking and review meetings
• Promote safeguarding, wellbeing and inclusion at all times

Requirements • Experience working with Autism and complex needs (minimum 6 months)
• HLTA qualification or significant experience working at HLTA level (ESSENTIAL)
• SEN experience (minimum 3 months)
• Professional, caring and patient approach
• Committed to full-time work – reliability is essential (these children are counting on you!)
• Able to provide a minimum of 2 references covering the past two years (at least one must reference work with children)
• Hold an enhanced DBS or be willing to apply for a new one through Smile Education
• Previous experience within an alternate provision or specialist setting is highly desirable
