Smile Education, in collaboration with The Endeavour Trust, is seeking a dedicated and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team and support a Year 11 student on a one-to-one basis at a specialised school in Wolverhampton. The Endeavour Trust operates four distinguished schools in Wolverhampton and Tamworth, committed to providing exceptional educational opportunities for students with diverse needs.

About the School:
The school is a special educational needs (SEN) school catering to boys and girls aged 11 to 19. They support students with a range of needs including autism, moderate and severe learning difficulties, social, emotional, and mental health difficulties, as well as physical impairments. The dedicated staff and inclusive environment ensure every student receives tailored support to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

About the Role:
As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work on a full-time basis, starting as soon as possible, providing one-to-one support to a Year 11 student within the classroom environment. You will play a crucial role in facilitating the student's learning and development, focusing on their individual needs and goals. This role requires patience, empathy, and a passion for empowering students with SEN to succeed. To be considered for this role you will need to have a strong and consistent background supporting within a similar role and also have the confidence to work with students independently.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide personalised support and assistance to a Year 11 student with challenging behaviour and to build a positive relationship to ensure the student thrives in lessons.
  • Implement individualised learning plans and educational activities.
  • Foster a nurturing and inclusive environment conducive to learning.
  • Encourage independence and social integration.
  • Collaborate closely with teaching staff and external professionals.
  • Monitor and track student progress, providing feedback and reports as required.
Requirements:
  • Previous experience working as a SEN Teaching Assistant, ideally within a special school setting is essential.
  • Understanding of various SEN needs and effective support strategies.
  • Compassionate and patient demeanor with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to adapt and respond to individual student needs.
  • Relevant qualifications or training in education, SEN, or related fields (essential)
