Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant Level 3 (SEMH – Secondary Alternative Provision)
Location: Birmingham, B11
Pay: £95 – £115 per day (dependent on experience)
Contract: Full-time opportunity, Monday–Friday until the end of the academic year

This is a fantastic opportunity for a dedicated and resilient Teaching Assistant to support pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, helping to deliver engaging and inclusive learning while promoting both academic progress and personal development.The role is ideal for individuals with SEN experience who are confident working with secondary-aged pupils and committed to making a meaningful impact.
The Role:
• Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEMH and additional needs
• Support the delivery of engaging and inclusive lessons alongside teaching staff
• Assist in implementing personalised learning programmes in line with EHCPs and IEPs
• Promote a safe, structured, and supportive learning environment
• Support behaviour management using positive, consistent, and restorative approaches
• Build strong, professional relationships to support pupil engagement and trust
• Use differentiated and practical strategies to meet individual learning needs
• Contribute to pupil progress tracking and feedback
• Promote safeguarding, wellbeing, and inclusion at all times

Requirements:
• Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent) – essential
• Minimum of 6 months’ experience supporting pupils with SEMH or behavioural needs
• At least 3 months’ experience working within an SEN or Alternative Provision setting
• Experience working with secondary-aged pupils (desirable)
• Strong behaviour management skills and a calm, resilient approach
• Professional, nurturing, and consistent in your practice
• Reliable and committed to a full-time role – consistency is key for these pupils
• Able to provide a minimum of two references covering the past two years (including one related to working with children)
• Hold an enhanced DBS on the Update Service or be willing to obtain one through Smile Education
