MLD teaching assistant

Smile Education is a leading recruitment service for schools in the West Midlands. An educational setting in Walsall are currently looking for an SEN teaching assistant  who has experience supporting children with ASC, EBD and MLD.

About the Role:
  • Supporting students with Special educational needs – including ASC/MLD and behavioural needs.
  • You will be supporting teachers in managing pupil behaviour.
  • You will be working to provide tailored activities that cater to needs of the child
  • You will use your kind and caring nature to provide a safe space for young people to grow and develop
  • Supporting the class teacher by following daily session plans to enable the students to get the best quality education
  • You will be supporting the class teacher by delivering extra support to young people who have autism spectrum conditions (ASC) and social emotional and mental health needs. 
  • You will be working to provide tailored activities that cater to needs of the child
  • You will work closely with the SENCO and other multi agencies to ensure the child is receiving the correct level of support
  • You will use your kind and caring nature to provide a safe space for young people to grow and develop
  • You will be working to provide tailored activities that cater to needs of the children who have ASC.
 
About the school:
  • A school that caters for young people aged 5-11 with varied additional needs, including ASC and speech and language
  • The setting encourages independence for its learners.
  • A school situated in Walsall which benefits from excellent facilities and dedicated SEN support staff
 
About You:
  • You will have 12 months experience working with pupils with multiple learning difficulties
  • Qualified to level 2 and willingness to take on a level 3 teaching assistant qualification.
  • You are a patient individual who has a good understanding of the service and complex needs of students
  • Are a caring individual with the flexibility to adapt your teaching style to meet your student's individual needs 
  • Exceptionally dedicated to supporting pupils achieve the very best through an all-inclusive curriculum
  • You must have an Enhanced DBS check or a willingness to apply for one
