Male SEN Teaching Assistant 

Smile Education are currently recruiting for an experienced, proactive and hardworking Male SEN Teaching Assistant to provide dedicated 1:1 support within a school in the B24 area. This is a fantastic opportunity for a Teaching Assistant with a strong work ethic, a positive attitude and a genuine passion for supporting young people. The successful candidate will need to be confident working on a 1:1 basis and able to build a positive, trusting relationship with the pupil.

The role
  • Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a pupil throughout the school day.
  • Support the pupil to access learning and participate in classroom activities.
  • Build a strong and positive professional relationship with the pupil.
  • Encourage engagement, confidence and independence.
  • Support the pupil with their social, emotional and academic development.
  • Promote positive behaviour and use appropriate strategies when challenges arise.
  • Help maintain a calm, structured and supportive learning environment.
  • Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO and wider school team.
  • Follow individual support plans and strategies to meet the pupil's needs.
  • Monitor and communicate progress, behaviour and wellbeing.
  • Be proactive in identifying opportunities to support the pupil both inside and outside the classroom.
We are looking for someone who is reliable, proactive and genuinely passionate about making a difference.

The ideal candidate will:
  • Have previous experience working with children or young people.
  • Have experience working with SEN or providing 1:1 support.
  • Have a strong work ethic and professional attitude.
  • Be proactive and able to use their initiative.
  • Be confident working independently while also being part of a wider team.
  • Have excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Be patient, resilient and consistent.
  • Be able to remain calm and positive when faced with challenging situations.
  • Have a genuine interest in supporting the pupil's development and wellbeing.
  • Be reliable and committed to providing consistent support.

  • Challenging behaviour
