Male SEN Teaching Assistant
Smile Education are currently recruiting for an experienced, proactive and hardworking Male SEN Teaching Assistant to provide dedicated 1:1 support within a school in the B24 area. This is a fantastic opportunity for a Teaching Assistant with a strong work ethic, a positive attitude and a genuine passion for supporting young people. The successful candidate will need to be confident working on a 1:1 basis and able to build a positive, trusting relationship with the pupil.
The role
- Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a pupil throughout the school day.
- Support the pupil to access learning and participate in classroom activities.
- Build a strong and positive professional relationship with the pupil.
- Encourage engagement, confidence and independence.
- Support the pupil with their social, emotional and academic development.
- Promote positive behaviour and use appropriate strategies when challenges arise.
- Help maintain a calm, structured and supportive learning environment.
- Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO and wider school team.
- Follow individual support plans and strategies to meet the pupil's needs.
- Monitor and communicate progress, behaviour and wellbeing.
- Be proactive in identifying opportunities to support the pupil both inside and outside the classroom.

- Have previous experience working with children or young people.
- Have experience working with SEN or providing 1:1 support.
- Have a strong work ethic and professional attitude.
- Be proactive and able to use their initiative.

- Have excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Be patient, resilient and consistent.
- Be able to remain calm and positive when faced with challenging situations.
- Have a genuine interest in supporting the pupil's development and wellbeing.
- Be reliable and committed to providing consistent support.
