Learning Support Assistant

Smile Education is proud to be working in partnership with a specialist SEN support unit in Walsall, supporting students aged 16–25 with a wide range of needs. We are seeking multiple Learning Support Assistants to provide in-class support, pastoral care, and personal care where required.
You will be part of a dedicated team helping young people to build confidence, achieve learning goals, and develop key life skills in a supportive and structured environment.
Student Needs May Include:
  • Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
  • Trauma-informed support
  • Physical disabilities
  • Personal care assistance
Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide tailored 1:1 and small group support within the classroom
  • Assist students during break and lunch periods
  • Support students with personal care needs (training provided)
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, support staff, and external professionals
  • Provide cover for other staff members in the unit as required
What We’re Looking For:
  • A minimum Level 2 qualification in Childcare or Education (essential)
  • Previous experience working with young people with additional needs (Essential)
  • A calm, compassionate, and resilient approach
  • A team player with a flexible and proactive attitude
  • Willingness to undertake additional training as needed
