Learning Support Assistant

Smile Education are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join a welcoming primary school in central Wolverhampton. This school provides a tailored education for pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs (SEN), including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, PMLD, and physical disabilities. All students have an EHCP in place.

The Role:
  • Provide 1:1 support to students with a variety of complex needs.
  • Promote a positive, nurturing, and safe learning environment.
  • Use your experience and knowledge to help children reach their full potential.
  • Assist with personal care and lead engaging activities tailored to individual needs.
  • Demonstrate strong behaviour management skills and the ability to de-escalate challenging situations calmly.
  • Work collaboratively with the school team to support each pupil’s learning and wellbeing.
Requirements:
  • A relevant qualification in Childcare, Health and Social Care, or Supporting Teaching and Learning (essential).
    Other qualifications will not be considered for this role.
  • UK-based experience supporting children or young adults with SEND.
  • Ability to provide a minimum of two professional references covering the past two years.
  • Hold a current Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or be willing to apply for one through Smile Education.
  • Be hands-on, proactive, and resilient, with a genuine passion for supporting young people.
