Intervention Teaching Assistant

Smile Education is recruiting a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join a supportive Secondary SEN school in Sandwell. This is an exciting opportunity to work with secondary-aged students with high needs, providing 1:1 or 2:1 support.
About the Role
  • Work closely with students who have complex needs, supporting learning and development
  • Support students on a 1:1 or 2:1 basis, adapting your approach to meet individual needs
  • Collaborate with a large professional team including teaching staff, therapy professionals, and senior leaders
  • Contribute fully to school life, including supporting positive behaviour and engagement
  • Flexible approach, willing to adapt strategies to suit each child’s needs
The Ideal Candidate Will:
  • Hold a relevant qualification (e.g., NVQ3 or equivalent in supporting children with SEN)
  • Have recent experience in a similar role within a special school or SEN setting
  • Be confident managing challenging behaviour
  • Ideally hold some form of physical intervention training
  • Be adaptable, flexible, and able to work collaboratively within a professional team
  • Be committed to fully immersing themselves in school life
Working Pattern
  • 5 mornings per week initially, with the potential to increase to full-time once students are settled
