Smile Education are currently recruiting for a Behaviour Mentor to join a secondary school in the Telford area.
This is an exciting opportunity for a caring, resilient and motivated individual who is passionate about supporting young people and helping them overcome barriers to learning.

The RoleAs a Behaviour Mentor, you will provide targeted support to students who may require additional guidance with their behaviour, emotional wellbeing, social development or engagement with education.
You will work closely with teaching staff and pastoral teams to identify barriers to learning and provide consistent, positive support to help students make progress.
Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one and small-group support to students experiencing behavioural, social or emotional difficulties.
• Build positive and trusting relationships with students and act as a consistent role model.
• Support students in understanding and managing their behaviour.
• Help students develop positive strategies for self-regulation and emotional management.
• Work alongside teaching and pastoral staff to identify barriers to learning.
• Support students to develop confidence, resilience, independence and social skills.
• Monitor behaviour, engagement and progress and provide feedback to relevant staff.
• Support behaviour plans and ensure school expectations are consistently reinforced.
• Deal calmly and appropriately with challenging or difficult situations.
• Promote a calm, safe and inclusive environment.
• Provide pastoral support and encouragement to students who need additional guidance.

What We're Looking For

• Previous experience working with children or young people is desirable.
• Experience supporting students with challenging behaviour, SEMH or additional needs would be an advantage.
• A calm, patient and resilient approach.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• The ability to build positive relationships with young people.
• Confidence managing challenging behaviour while maintaining professional boundaries.
• The ability to remain calm, consistent and supportive in difficult situations.
• A flexible, reliable and professional approach.
• A genuine passion for helping young people overcome barriers and achieve their potential.
