Behaviour Mentor – Full Time (Alternative Provision) Location: Various Alternative Provision Settings across Birmingham
Pay: £95 – £120 per day (Based on experience)
Contract: Full-time opportunity, Monday–Friday until end of academic year
Smile Education is proud to be supporting a number of well-established Alternative Provision settings across Birmingham that are seeking resilient and committed Behaviour Mentors to join their teams.
This is a rewarding opportunity to work with pupils who require additional behavioural, emotional and social support outside of mainstream education. The role is ideal for individuals with experience in PRUs, AP settings, youth work or care environments who are passionate about transforming young people’s futures.
The Role
• Provide 1:1 and small group behavioural support to pupils with SEMH needs.
• Support students who may display challenging behaviour or require de-escalation strategies.
• Implement behaviour intervention plans and personalised support strategies.
• Promote emotional regulation, resilience and engagement in learning.
• Work closely with teachers, pastoral teams and external professionals.
• Support reintegration plans where appropriate.
• Record behavioural progress and contribute to review meetings.
• Build positive, consistent relationships with pupils who need stability and trust.
• Maintain safeguarding, wellbeing and inclusion at all times.

Requirements
• Minimum 6 months’ experience supporting young people with behavioural needs.
• Experience within Alternative Provision, PRU or similar setting (preferred).
• Experience supporting Autism, ADHD or SEMH.
• Calm, resilient and confident managing challenging situations.
• Committed to full-time consistency – these pupils rely on routine.
• Able to provide 2 references covering the past two years (one must comment on child-based work).
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willing to apply through Smile Education.
