Smile Education are currently recruiting for a confident and adaptable Secondary Cover Teacher to work across secondary schools in Cannock and the surrounding areas.
This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified teacher or Early Career Teacher (ECT) looking for flexible work, whether you're seeking daily supply, short-term placements or longer-term opportunities. You'll have the chance to teach across a range of subjects using pre-planned lessons while making a positive impact in local secondary schools.
You'll be joining welcoming and supportive schools where high expectations, positive relationships and strong behaviour management help students succeed. The role offers variety, flexibility and the opportunity to gain experience across different school settings.
The RoleAs a Secondary Cover Teacher, you'll deliver pre-planned lessons during teacher absences, maintain a positive learning environment and ensure students remain engaged throughout the school day. You'll confidently manage classrooms across different year groups while following each school's behaviour policies.
Key Responsibilities

• Deliver pre-planned lessons across a variety of secondary subjects.
• Create a calm, engaging and purposeful classroom environment.
• Manage behaviour in line with school policies.
• Encourage students to remain focused and complete the work set.
• Provide clear feedback to teaching staff after lessons.
• Build positive relationships with students and colleagues.
• Support the wider school community where required.

We're Looking For

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an Early Career Teacher (ECT).
• Experience teaching within UK secondary schools.
• Strong classroom and behaviour management skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Confidence teaching across different subjects when required.
• A flexible, reliable and proactive approach.
