Smile Education are currently recruiting a qualified Religious Education (RE) Teacher to work within a secondary school in Manchester. This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate and committed RE Teacher to join a welcoming and supportive school environment with strong values and high expectations.

This role is suitable for experienced teachers and ECTs, and there is flexibility around the start date. The position is expected to run on a long‑term basis, with the potential to continue beyond the end of the academic year.

Role Overview
As an RE Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering high‑quality Religious Education lessons across KS3 and KS4 (with potential KS5 depending on the placement). You will create engaging, well‑structured lessons that support students’ understanding, critical thinking, and personal development.
You will be expected to quickly integrate into the school, build positive relationships with pupils and staff, and uphold the ethos and values of the school community.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver engaging RE lessons in line with the national curriculum
  • Teach Religious Education across KS3 and KS4 (KS5 experience advantageous)
  • Create a positive, inclusive learning environment for all pupils
  • Differentiate lessons to meet the needs of students of varying abilities, including SEND
  • Effectively manage classroom behaviour in line with school policies
  • Assess and monitor student progress where required
  • Contribute positively to the wider school community and departmental team
  • Uphold professional standards, safeguarding expectations, and school ethos
 
Requirements
The successful candidate will:
  • Hold QTS (or equivalent) or have strong unqualified teaching experience
  • Have experience teaching RE/Religious Studies in a UK secondary school
  • Demonstrate strong classroom and behaviour management skills
  • Possess confident subject knowledge and the ability to engage learners
  • Be professional, reliable, and adaptable
  • Be able to quickly settle into a new school environment
  • Hold an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or be willing to obtain one)
  • Have the right to work in the UK
