Humanities Teacher

Role Details
- Start Date: After May half term, continuing until the summer holidays
- Hours: 8:30am – 3:30pm
- Days: Full-time (5 days per week), with flexibility to consider 4 days for the right candidate
- Class Size: Maximum of 15 students
- Support: Strong SLT presence and daily support, alongside experienced TA support
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, deliver, and assess engaging lessons tailored to students with SEN needs, including Autism, ADHD, and visual impairments.
- Take full responsibility for teaching, planning, and marking, while also working collaboratively with the wider department.
- Differentiate lessons effectively to meet a range of abilities rather than age groups, with class sizes of up to 15 students.
- Work closely with Teaching Assistants, including 1:1 support staff and general classroom TAs, to maximise student progress.
- Create a positive and structured learning environment that supports behaviour, engagement, and wellbeing.
- Occasionally provide cover for other subjects where required (minimal requirement).
- Monitor and track student progress, adapting teaching strategies to support individual learning needs.
What We’re Looking For
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential.
- Open to ECTs with QTS.
- Experience teaching History, RE, or Geography is highly desirable.
- Previous experience working within an SEN setting or supporting additional needs is advantageous.
- Strong understanding of supporting students with Autism, ADHD, and visual impairments.
- A flexible and proactive approach, with the ability to adapt to different classroom situations.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- A valid DBS on the Update Service is required or willing to apply for a new DBS through Smile Education.
