We are currently recruiting for a confident and adaptable General Cover Teacher to join a supportive secondary special school based in Tamworth from after May half term until July 2026.

This is a full-time position and offers an excellent opportunity to become part of a professional and welcoming school team committed to supporting young people with additional needs and preparing them for adulthood and the world of work.
The school is a co-educational special school in Tamworth, Staffordshire, supporting students aged 11 to 19. The school places a strong emphasis on personalised learning, helping pupils to develop independence, confidence and essential life skills for their future pathways.

The Role As a General Cover Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering pre-planned lessons across a range of curriculum subjects, ensuring students remain engaged and supported in their learning. Due to the nature of the role, flexibility and adaptability are essential.

You will be expected to:

• Deliver lessons across a variety of subject areas
• Maintain a positive and productive learning environment
• Manage behaviour effectively and confidently
• Build positive relationships with students and staff
• Support students with additional learning and behavioural needs
• Fully immerse yourself in school life and contribute positively to the wider school community
• Work collaboratively as part of a professional and supportive team

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS)
• Experience teaching or covering within a secondary school setting
• Strong behaviour management skills
• Confidence delivering lessons across multiple curriculum subjects
• A flexible and proactive approach to teaching
• Excellent communication and classroom management skills
• The ability to adapt teaching styles to meet individual student needs
• Commitment to working full-time for the remainder of the academic year
• A positive attitude and willingness to become fully involved in school life
