English Teacher

Smile Education is working in partnership with a welcoming and inclusive secondary school within the Stoke-on-Trent area to recruit an English Teacher to cover a maternity leave. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a school known for its supportive ethos, student-focused approach, and strong English department.
This position is open to specialists in either English Literature or English Language, and is expected to run for two terms, starting in January.
 
Responsibilities of the English Teacher Role:
  • Deliver engaging and inspiring English lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4 (KS5 experience is a bonus)
  • Plan, assess, and adapt learning in line with the national curriculum
  • Foster a love of reading, writing, and critical analysis among students
  • Maintain high expectations of student behaviour and achievement
  • Uphold safeguarding and school policies at all times
 
To apply for this English Teacher role, you will need:
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Experience teaching English at KS3 and KS4
  • Strong subject knowledge in English Literature and/or Language
  • Excellent classroom and behaviour management skills
  • A passion for English education and student development
