Are you a teacher who wants more than just delivering lessons — someone who wants to genuinely change the trajectory of a child’s life?
At Smile Education, we are working with a welcoming and inclusive SEN school in Wolverhampton that is looking for a
dedicated Primary SEN Teacher to join their team. This is a school where every child is understood as an individual, and where your teaching will have a direct, visible impact every single day.
You won’t just be teaching a class — you’ll be helping pupils build confidence, independence, and the skills they need both inside and outside the classroom.
What your role will look like You will be leading a primary SEN class, where no two learners are the same. Your ability to adapt, connect, and inspire will be key.
You will be:
- Planning and delivering engaging, tailored lessons that meet a wide range of additional needs
- Adapting your teaching style in real-time to ensure every pupil can access learning in a way that works for them
- Creating a structured, calm, and positive classroom environment where pupils feel safe and supported
- Monitoring progress closely, celebrating small wins, and using this to shape your next steps
- Working closely with teaching assistants, ensuring you’re aligned and consistent in your approach
- Collaborating with the SENCO and external professionals to provide the best possible support for each child
- Contributing to and reviewing Individual Education Plans (IEPs), making sure targets are meaningful and achievable
- Building strong relationships with parents and carers, keeping them informed and involved in their child’s journey.
This is a role where patience, creativity, and emotional intelligence matter just as much as teaching ability. Some days will test you — but the progress you’ll see makes it genuinely worthwhile.
What we’re looking for We’re looking for someone who brings both skill and heart to the classroom.
You will:
- Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
- Have experience working with primary-aged pupils, ideally within an SEN setting
- Understand a range of additional needs, including communication and behavioural challenges
- Be confident adapting lessons to suit different learning styles and abilities
- Be organised, proactive, and a strong communicator
- Have a calm, patient, and resilient approach, especially in more challenging moments
What you’ll get in return- Competitive daily rate of £92–£112, depending on experience
- Flexible payment options (PAYE or Umbrella)
- 12.07% holiday pay
- Access to free CPD training through the Smile portal to help you grow and develop
- A referral bonus scheme of up to £200
- Ongoing support from a dedicated consultant who understands your local area and career goals
- The opportunity to work in a supportive, inclusive school where your impact will be seen and valued
This is more than just a teaching role — it’s a chance to be part of a child’s development in a way that truly matters.
